When a sound is heard—
almost instantly,
it becomes “something”.
When a feeling arises—
it is already
“mine”.
When a thought appears—
it is followed,
as if it must lead somewhere.
So quick,
it is rarely caught
in attention.
The grasping does not announce itself.
Yet it leans us forward.
Reaching for what is pleasant.
Pushing away what is not.
The subtle act of holding
what was never stable.
And with it,
a center seems to appear.
As someone who prefers.
As someone who resists.
As someone who owns.
But look closely.
Is the grasping done by someone?
Or does the “someone” appear
with the grasping?
When the movement quiets—
nothing to hold,
nothing being held—
what remains?
Reflection
At any moment today—
notice the instant
something is liked or disliked.
Before the story forms,
is there a tiny movement?
Before a thought is followed,
is there a leaning
towards or away?
Just notice.
BodhiOcean
We are not here to accumulate ideas.
We are here to loosen what is unnecessary.
The ocean is already vast.
We are only learning not to cling to the shore.
